Virginia Harm Reduction

About Us
The Virginia Harm Reduction Coalition (VHRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, peer-run organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals impacted by drug use. Our mission is to advocate for, develop, and implement evidence-based solutions to reduce the adverse effects of drug use on individuals and communities. As a comprehensive harm reduction organization, we prioritize compassion, dignity, and respect in all our services.

Our Services
At VHRC, we provide a range of harm reduction services designed to meet the diverse needs of the communities we serve.

Our programs include:

HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV) Patient Navigation and Testing
We offer free, confidential testing for HIV and HCV, along with personalized patient navigation to connect individuals with the care and resources they need. Our team provides education, support, and follow-up to ensure individuals can access appropriate treatment and achieve better health outcomes.

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Maternal Health Case Management
We specialize in supporting pregnant individuals navigating substance use challenges. Our maternal health case management program connects clients with prenatal care, treatment options, parenting resources, and other vital services to promote healthy pregnancies and families.

Comprehensive Harm Reduction Services
As a comprehensive harm reduction organization, VHRC distributes safer use supplies, educates communities about overdose prevention, and advocates for stigma-free, evidence-based approaches to address the impacts of drug use. We are committed to empowering individuals with tools and resources that improve health and reduce harm.

Our Approach
VHRC operates on the principles of harm reduction, meeting individuals where they are and supporting their journey toward improved health and well-being. By centering the voices of people with lived experience, we ensure that our services remain relevant, inclusive, and effective.

Whether you're seeking services, looking for support, or interested in joining the movement to reduce the harms of drug use, VHRC is here to help. Together, we can build healthier, more compassionate communities.
